The NFRN Mutual Limited has been established for over 10 years now, providing an alternative to conventional insurance, offering cover and protection to newsagents and other retailers of news and magazines.
The NFRN Mutual was created by news retailers for news retailers and is still controlled by them through an elected Board of Directors. It has no external shareholders or investors and exists only to provide benefits for its members. There are no hidden costs or broker fees to pay and we offer our members a comprehensive package of four products, each individually tailored to the needs of news retailers. With over 9,000 claims settled and over £14 million paid in claims payment, who better understands the needs of the new retailers than the NFRN Mutual.
We are the only cover provider or conventional insurer who is endorsed by the NFRN and the two major News Wholesalers. Our member´s can also benefit from our unique weekly payment scheme where contribution is collected via their weekly news bill*.
A mutual is a risk pooling mechanism which is owned by and operated for the benefit of its members. A mutual company will usually be established to protect the interests of a particular industry or group whose businesses have activities in common. It is a company limited by guarantee i.e. the financial liability to mutual members is limited. In the case of NFRN Mutual this liability is limited to £1.00.
The affairs of a mutual are run by a Board of Directors elected by the Membership. All of the Board are also members of the mutual.
